New trends on online advertising- Tuesday April 10, 2012
Internet advertising takes an ever increasing part of brand marketing.
According to the IAB (Internet Advertising Revenue) Report, Internet advertising revenues in the US hit a record 7,88 billion $ for the third quarter of 2011, representing a 22 per cent year-over year- growth. A similar trend can be witnessed in the EU; in 2009 the budget allocated by companies to online advertising in Europe was valued at 14.7 billion Euros according to a McKinsey & Company study. The industry figures show a growth of 20 per cent in 2010.
These figures reveal that as consumers spend more time on Internet, brands shift their focus to the digital world and are willing to pay impressive amounts of money to advertise their products online. Therefore they should be able to take full benefit of the new opportunities.
Ahead of the review of the European trademark system, the IP Forum will focus on the new trends on online advertising and on their impact to companies and consumers.
Kerstin Jorna will give us a general outlook of the upcoming proposals of the European Commission. We will then have the opportunity to exchange with our panellists on several topics relating to the online protection of trademarks and consumers protection.
